When does a fundraiser not appear to be a fundraiser? When he or she is a physician, nurse, dietitian, groundskeeper, clinical attendant, pharmacist, computer specialist, cook, registration clerk, accountant, social worker, housekeeper, x-ray technician, manager, cashier, medical assistant or one of a myriad of other roles and responsibilities of employees at Hendricks Regional Health.
More than 1,200 dedicated, caring and compassionate people work throughout our health system at locations in Avon, Bainbridge, Brownsburg, Danville, Lizton and Plainfield. And they all are the best fundraisers Hendricks Regional Health Foundation has! For if it was not for them, how could we raise money? Even though Hendricks Regional Health Foundation volunteers and staff are the ones doing the asking, the simple answer is we couldn’t, because they first lay the groundwork.
Grateful patients and satisfied business owners respond when asked for support because they appreciate a sincere smile, kind touch, spotless building, tasty food, caring attitude, helpful assistance, quality care, and commitment to community. All these things and more provided by people who don’t normally call themselves fundraisers. But they are, and they’re hiding in plain sight.
I’m proud to be a member of an indispensable team that cares for and about the needs of everyone in our community in a way no one else can or does. It’s the Hendricks way. It’s not only doing your job, but caring about your job. It’s about being a community volunteer and leader. It’s about going the extra mile for a friend, co-worker or patient.
It’s about caring. And that is what fundraising is all about anyway. Caring enough to support an organization with your time, talent and treasure. And our associates, every one of them, do care. They are the difference makers, and they lay the groundwork for our Foundation’s efforts. Many are proud donors to Hendricks Regional Health Foundation themselves, proving their commitment means more to them than just their work.
I appreciate all they do to make our job as fundraisers easier. The $1 million raised by Hendricks Regional Health Foundation for our hospital and health system since 2009 is possible thanks to your good work! Thank you, one and all, for being the incognito fundraisers that you are. We couldn’t do it without you!
