Editor's Note: Great Shape is a six-month wellness program that gives individuals the opportunity to receive personalized support for healthy lifestyle changes. Karla is among the current class of "Great Shapers," and will be a guest blogger as she chronicles her journey to a healthier life.

My husband and I made a commitment to each other to visit all of the parks in Hendricks County this summer and walk the trails.

Recently, we went to the new Sodalis Nature Park. It is located between Plainfield and Mooresville. They have a beautiful nature park with lots of trails. We have also gone to parks in Plainfield, Danville, Avon and even Mooresville. I have found I really enjoy walking in the woods.

I would not have made this commitment to do this before I started the Great Shape Program. It this has really motivated me to move more and get out and enjoy life. I have come to the realization that you can enjoy other things to keep you busy besides eating food.

Focusing on being active fulfills that feeling of turning to food for comfort and being bored. I even started my own little garden this summer to see how well I can do with it. I started small this summer, but it will feel so good to eat my own vegetables from my garden! I am waiting for the tomatoes to come in so we can share those with family and friends. I have four tomato plants.

So keep staying active, and setting small goals to reach. I know we can all do it!

Keep up the good work Great Shapers!
